Hashi Cooking at London Design Festival!

 

If you have been following my recent newsletters and website updates, you’ll most likely know that we have been busy planning our upcoming Japanese cookery holidays in the Italian Veneto, and food culture tours in Kyoto, Japan!

Meanwhile, at home in London I have also been involved in the annual London Design Festival – hosting a sushi workshop for 30 journalists and architects on behalf of award winning architecture and interior design practice, Universal Design Studio!
The guests prepared traditional Maki sushi rolls in addition to Salmon and Tamago Nigiri, inside-out Californian-style rolls, using tuna and salmon sashimi, as well as smoked mackerel, crab, avocado and all sorts of crisp Japanese pickles and fresh vegetables – all complimented, of course, by fresh ginger and wasabi!
The class took place on Shoreditch’s Rivington Street, within a stunning pale timber structure constructed for the festival – which just goes to show, we can host a Hashi workshop just about anywhere!
